Yet the HRW press release on its report from Georgia also noted the "plight of ethnic Ossetian villagers who had fled Georgian soldiers"—a plight not mentioned by the Times. [more]

Anatoly Nogovitsyn, deputy chief of the Russian general staff, responded angrily to Poland's deal with the US to host a "missile shield" base, saying "A bordering country always makes it its priority to strike such installations [in case of conflict].
